“Katie M. – Philadelphia:
I’m writing to thank you for this amazing product. I just had a baby last month and since I began having stretch marks I started using Stretch Mark Prevention Cream. I used it three times a day. In the third week using this cream I already saw that my stretch marks were becoming thinner and less apparent.” Read More…

The medical treatments for stretch marks most commonly used now are:

1. Microdermabrasion:

This technique is very effective in curing or improving stretch marks.

Microdermabration helps improve collagen production and skin tone. It can greatly improve stretch marks and promote effective healing.

Normally it takes several treatments to improve or eliminate stretch marks.

2. Medical Treatments for Stretch Marks – Retin A

Retin A (or Tretinol) is very effective in treating stretch marks.

A recent study showed that a high concentration of Retin A (1%) may help get rid of stretch marks according to the Journal of the American Medical Association.

In this study, people who used the product for two months saw positive results. Retinal contraindications during treatment may be excessive irritation and slight swelling of the skin.

Retin A is a prescription medicine in most countries.

There are many different brands available with different percentages of of Retin A, but for the best results you will need one that has 1%.

3. Laser Treatments

Some dermatologists say that laser surgery for stretch marks is the preferred way and the best of the medical treatments for stretch marks.

Laser treatments are short, painless and leave no scars. The laser beam penetrates the skin; the heat produced in the deep layers of skin promotes healing.

The result is a smoother, more uniform skin. You can improve stretch marks with a single treatment but it usually takes several treatments.

Some dermatologists use a combination of laser and collagen treatments which they believe is more effective.

4. Alpha-hydroxy Acids ( AHA )

In a recent study some women who used a concentration of 12% of AHA observed some good results.

To achieve the best results, creams containing AHA concentrations must have not less than 8% AHA.

There are many creams containing AHA and several claim to contain concentrations of 8 or 10% AHA.  In most cases this is not true.

It is very difficult to get a high concentration of AHA in commercial creams. Dermatologist creams are sold in high concentrations.

Conclusion

In conclusion, although there are several remedies that could cure or prevent stretch marks, most of them will not be 100% effective.

In the future, we will certainly have a treatment that is 100% effective in most cases. At the moment we have several alternatives, but most will not completely cure stretch marks, although the appearance can be dramatically improved.
